Development Update: New Fishing Combat System

Hello, anglers.

This is the Fishing Online development team.

We are currently taking a closer look at the fishing combat system, which is one of the core gameplay elements of Fishing Online. After reviewing many of the comments and reviews left by players, we have been discussing how to improve the fishing experience, especially in areas where the current gameplay may feel too simple.

We considered several different ideas, but we decided that the best first step would be to move closer to the kind of fishing combat experience that many players enjoyed in the past. Once this core system is completed, we plan to listen to your feedback and continue improving or pivoting the system more quickly based on actual gameplay.

With this direction in mind, we are currently revising the fishing combat UI and developing a new fourth combat pattern. This new pattern introduces a Line Tension mechanic, where players will need to manage the tension of the fishing line while struggling against the fish.

The new system will also include combo attacks and skill like actions between the player and the fish. Through this, we want to provide a fishing experience that is more dynamic, more strategic, and more game like, while still keeping the core feeling of fishing intact.

The difficulty of this new pattern will vary depending on the grade of each fish. We also plan to continue adjusting the balance based on player feedback after release.

During development, we also discussed several convenience focused ideas. However, some of these features could create confusion with the combat patterns that past players were familiar with, so we have decided to hold them back for now. We will consider adding them later after we hear more feedback from players.

Our current goal is to release this new feature in May, and we are now working on functional tuning and balance adjustments.

We hope you continue to enjoy Fishing Online during this warm spring season. We will do our best to bring this update to you as soon as possible.
